"Can you imagine? A separate plane for one civilian 25-year-old girl.."
The FSB released a video of illegally detained Crimean Tatar young woman Leniye Umerova, who was arrested on May 5 by the Lefortovsky Court of Moscow on charges of espionage.
In the video, security forces wearing masks take a 25-year-old girl by the hands from a plane in Moscow and take her to the Lefortovsky court. According to the report of the Russian agency "RIA-Novosti", a Crimean Tatar young woman allegedly passed on information about Russian objects and equipment of the "Vostok" group during the occupation of the Kyiv region in February-March 2022. The group is a special-purpose battalion of the Main Directorate of Intelligence formed in Chechnya and is closely associated with Ramzan Kadyrov.
“It took these miserable creatures five and a half months to falsify this 'espionage case' against my sister. And all because the Crimean Tatars are inconvenient for Russia: they don't get passports, they don't recognize the occupation... Can you imagine? A separate plane for one civilian 25-year-old girl!” - Leniye's brother, Aziz Umerov commented on the video on his Facebook page.
At present, the occupiers have placed Leniye Umerova in the "Lefortovo" pre-trial detention center after being charged by a Moscow court on suspicion of espionage. She faces from 10 to 20 years in prison.
Leniye Umerova was detained by the Russian FSB in December last year when she tried to get to Crimea through Russia to take care of her cancer-stricken father. Then the security forces detained the girl for allegedly violating the state border because she did not have a Russian passport. Umerova was illegally detained in North Ossetia, and her prison term was constantly extended for trumped-up reasons. Leniye is originally from Crimea, she moved to Kyiv in 2015 due to the occupation, renouncing her Russian citizenship. According to her brother, this was the main motive for the persecution.
The representation of the President of Ukraine in Crimea also believes that the reason for the illegal detention of the Crimean Tataryoung woman is the refusal of her Russian passport.
