For more than a day now, the family of 61-year-old Ediye Muslimova has not known whether she is alive. Both of her phones have been switched off, and the car in which she was supposed to go to her mother's house yesterday is still parked outside her house.

Crimean Solidarity reported the disappearance of the editor-in-chief of the Crimean Tatar children's magazine Armanchik on the morning of November 22. Human rights activist Lutfiye Zudiyeva added: “Ediye was kidnapped by three unknown men. The men attacked Muslimova near her home, grabbed her and forced her into a white GAZelle (light commercial vehicle, like a pickup truck or a van, made by Russian car manufacturer GAZ).

Since 2011, Ediye Muslimova has been publishing the world's only Crimean Tatar children's magazine. The monthly publication “Armanchik” is popular not only among Crimeans on the peninsula, but also beyond its borders.

On November 21, she was going to leave Simferopol for her mother, who lives in the village of Sonyachna Dolina. 91-year-old Musfira Muslimova has a group 1 disability. She was waiting for her daughter during the day, so in the evening she began to realize that something had happened to Ediye and informed other relatives. Today, they reported her disappearance to the occupation police, but the security forces are unlikely to rush to find her.

Ediye Muslimova was kidnapped by Russian special services, the Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov is sure. According to the politician, the journalist is currently being held in the FSB building in Crimea.

“Now Ediye Muslimova is in the building of the FSB of Russia. We do not know about her status. However, based on the experience of hundreds of detentions of other Crimean Tatars, it is possible that Ediye Muslimova is being pressured to admit the charges that are far-fetched by the punishers,” Chubarov wrote on his Facebook page.

The leader of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Cemilev believes that the reason for Muslimova's intimidation may be the journalist's refusal to cooperate with the Russian occupiers. According to Cemilev, the occupation authorities are planning to take full control of the magazine “Armanchik” in order to influence young Crimeans ideologically.

CEMAAT's sources in Crimea reported that lawyer Cemil Temishev has already taken up the case of Ediye Muslimova. However, he has not commented on the case yet.
