People's Artist of Russia, State Duma Deputy Nikolai Burlyaev sent an appeal to the Investigative Committee (SC) of the Russian Federation with a request to investigate the death of the poet Mikhail Lermontov, reports “German Wave”.

“I ask you to investigate the circumstances of the murder of the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov. (...) I strongly ask you to conduct a modern, honest, impartial investigation using modern technologies available at the disposal of the Investigative Committee of Russia,” the journalists quote in the document.

According to Burlyaev, the deaths of Lermontov and Alexander Pushkin may be interrelated and “Russophobes of that time” may be involved in both. “Everything is interconnected in the completion of the lives of our two prophets, geniuses. The same individuals are practically tied up, Russophobes of the time. We need to understand. Russophobes have always been in Russia,” the deputy's publication quotes.
