For the first time since 2014, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people calls on the residents of the occupied peninsula to mass protests.
The Presidium of the Mejlis issued a statement condemning the mobilization of Crimeans into the Russian army and called for resistance. Here are the main theses of the appeal:
▪️Calling Crimeans to war against Ukraine is a gross violation of the Geneva Convention of 1949, Article 51
▪️The Russian Federation fully prepared for mobilization before its announcement
▪️Among those mobilized in Crimea, in some areas the number of Crimean Tatars reaches 80-90%
▪️The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people communicates with the Ukrainian leadership, Western organizations and states on the issue of mobilization in Crimea
▪️The Mejlis calls to argue against mobilization
▪️Go exclusively to the main square in Simferopol
▪️Start an open-ended action against mobilization on the central square on weekends at 12:00 p.m. and on weekdays at 5:00 p.m.
▪️Those who are being mobilized must refuse to fight against Ukraine
▪️Those who were mobilized - to lay down their arms and go over to the side of Ukraine
▪️The Russian system will collapse
