The deportation of people is forced. It is worth noting that some deportees were able to return to their homes or relocate to other resettlement countries.

According to various estimates, the number of those who managed to flee the "brotherly embrace" of the occupying country ranges between 2000 and 2500 people.

Residents of Ukraine's occupied territories who remained in Russia were placed in temporary housing camps.

Following the checking procedure and "filtering," deportees are on their own to find work and permanent residence. Many of those who remained in Russia relied on permanent housing and jobs.

According to the government, as of May 2022, 1,200,000 Ukrainians have been deported from Ukraine. People are being deported from the country's east, including Mariupol, Luhansk, Donetsk, Volnovakha, and Izyum.

According to British intelligence, Russia is preparing to deport locals from Severodonetsk to occupied territories.

Thus, since June 14, officials of the occupying country and their LPR representatives have stated that they are attempting to establish "humanitarian corridors" to evacuate civilians from Severodonetsk.

It should be noted that Russia has used unilaterally declared "humanitarian" corridors as a mechanism for manipulating the space of hostilities and forced displacement in both Syria and Ukraine.

There have been no reports of deportations from the occupied Kherson region or southern Zaporizhia region but forced removals of Ukrainians are also possible in these areas. There have been reports of people being deported from the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions together with the withdrawal of the Russian army.

These people were found in the pre-trial detention centre. There is a case where a married couple was able to flee to Belarusian territory. No one cared for the prisoners under international law.

Since the start of the full-fledged war, Russia has acknowledged the deportation of 1,936,911 Ukrainians. 307,423 of them are children.
